Darling! Dare-ling

Coming from a director, who has basically had only one huge hit in the last 12 years, it being Tholi Prema, the expectations on the movie- which was really huge- is surprising

Darling, one of the big ticket releases this years falls flat on its face because of the lack of a convincing script and a non-moving screenplay. In fact, the first refuses to come to an end. In the past films like Vamsi, Tulasi were rejected at the turnstiles because of the exact reason of them being predictable and had a feeling of deja vu attached to it. Like Gunasekhar, who has made it a specialised craft of inserting a kidnapping sequence, Karunakaran, has made it a speciality to weave the story line around a lie by one of the protagonists

Coming to the actors, Prabhas looks jaded and disinterested. Kajal reminds one of bollywood themes, where she is constantly running. The elder tribe of the actors acquitted themselves well

Scenes to lookout for

The thread between the hero and the heroine's brother worked out well

The scene where Prabhas tells Chandramohan's daughter "That is your dad"

All in all, a movie that could have been better considering the star cast and the producers name

Note: Chemistry between the hero and the heroine is non-existent. Whatever happened to the concept of screen testing

There was a time , when I was a Chiranjeevi fan, to an extent that I even defended his flop movies such as Rickshavodu, Big Boss and others of the same ilk. For me he was was the ultimate star- the superstar. And hearing tales of Amitabh Bachchan from my father did nothing to alter my views on Chiranjeevi's superstardom Towards the end of my graduation, that is circa 2005 in April, two movies released- Mumbai Express and Chandramukhi. I went to Mumbai Express for the first day first show and was not impressed. Rajnikanth, coming off a colossal flop called  Baba  and Chandramukhi was touted to be his comeback vehicle. Since we had nothing to do, we dragged ourselves to Chandramukhi and I was impressed with the fact that as a superstar, he allowed the female protagonist to run away with the credit Well when Sivaji released, I got to see Rajni mania first hand and what a sight it was! I was in Bangalore and there was a serpentine queue to procure the tickets. The sheer magnitude

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

BREAKING NEWS: Allu Arjun and Ravi Teja from Telugu movies make a fleeting appearance in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Doesn't matter that they appear in a TV footage in the movie From the time it was announced that Anil Kapoor would be a part of the Mission Impossible franchise, it was marked as an awaited movie in India. It was widely anticipated that he would play a major role in the movie. Though he serves as a major connecting link in the movie or rather the main reason, why the movie moves to India, he is projected as a lusting billionaire One of the very good things about the movie is its humour content. There are a lot of subtle one-liners by the guy who operates the computer and is the technical guru in the movie. The movie is about an evil mind getting his hand on nuclear warhead and the mission is to stop a full blown war between USA and Russia There are a lot of things that are interlinked in the movie. For example, at the beginning of the mission when it’s sa

Who is Shane Watson?

There is a dialogue in the novel Atlas Shrugged , which goes like this “If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders-what would you tell him to do?" "I . . . don't know. What . . . could he do? What would you tell him?" "To shrug." You   would not be mistaken if you can put Shane Watson in the place of Atlas in the above dialogue, just that as an Australian fan you would not want him to shrug It became more apparent from yesterday's match that Watson is the premier Australian cricketer now. That's quite an achievement from where he found himself in the early and middle part's of the last decade Watson was basically hyped up as the next all-rounder for Australia as soon as he en
