Leader - A blunder or a boon?

What happens when you have given a hit like "Happy days" in your last outing? What happens when as a production house, you are making huge revenues by making movies like "Sivaji", "Ayan" ? What happens when you are the flag-bearer of the third generation of the biggest production houses in the state? - Expectations build up and with those expectations came AVM's "Leader". Leader was supposed to be Diwali but various non-filmy reasons led to its postponement

What added weight to the movie was its positive title and it releasing in the time of a political maelstorm adds to the gloss of the movie. A movie can sustain itself only when it has some story happening on a nice thread. Leader does that - atleast for me! With the insurgent demand for a separate state, it was hoped that "Leader" would have a few words on the issue. It veered clear of this issue and came out with a protagonist, who looked the perfect fit for the role

It does not matter when you are coming from a filmy family, you are bound to have some expectations mounted on you. Ask Allu Arjun, whose first movie was hyped to the skies with the sole reason being, that it was the 100th movie of K.Raghavendra Rao. Now imagine what kind of hype this movie would have had as it came out from accomplished names. First of all, RaNa must be commended for picking a different script as his launch-pad. It was a double-edged sword, as if it would have been a flop, critics would be circling above him and if it was a hit, the same critics would praise him as the next Superstar. What mattered more to his family was that he was in safe hands

Coming to the movie it starts off with the death of CM and RaNa's entry scene in the movie could be as subdued as possible, which is surprising in Tollywood. Famous star-sons are meant to make their entries in style and pomp. RaNa all through the movie, underplays his part and comes off with his head held high

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

BREAKING NEWS: Allu Arjun and Ravi Teja from Telugu movies make a fleeting appearance in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Doesn't matter that they appear in a TV footage in the movie From the time it was announced that Anil Kapoor would be a part of the Mission Impossible franchise, it was marked as an awaited movie in India. It was widely anticipated that he would play a major role in the movie. Though he serves as a major connecting link in the movie or rather the main reason, why the movie moves to India, he is projected as a lusting billionaire One of the very good things about the movie is its humour content. There are a lot of subtle one-liners by the guy who operates the computer and is the technical guru in the movie. The movie is about an evil mind getting his hand on nuclear warhead and the mission is to stop a full blown war between USA and Russia There are a lot of things that are interlinked in the movie. For example, at the beginning of the mission when it’s sa...

Final : India V Sri Lanka

Tendulkar has finally become the most decorated player in World Cricket. After having the hefty tag of ‘God’ attached to him for close to a decade now, World Cup was the only thing that was missing from him. If it was him who carried the hopes of the cricket fans in India, then today it was payback time for him. The generation of players that were inspired by him bought home the cup. Nothing encapsulated this better than what Kohli said. He said “ He carried the burden for 21 years, now is our time to carry him” The match itself started off in a misleading manner as the captains were not sure of what the other meant to do and were steadfast in the belief that they won the toss. In the end, the referee wanted the toss to be conducted. In what has been a superb turnaround from 2003 final, Zaheer started this final in a superb manner- he bowled three maidens on the trot. On the other hand, the surprise selection for final, Sreesanth endured a tough time- exactly the way he started off t...

Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu review

When asked his opinion on Monty Panesar, the legendary leg spinner, Shane Warne said “Monty hasn’t played 33 Tests, he has played the same Test 33 times.” Hilarious, it surely was, but it also tells us that the lack of variety can never go unnoticed. Puri Jagannadh is also treading the same path as Monty Panesar now. His movies have become monotonous. No two ways about it. Protagonist leading a normal life, rises in staure, opposes authority and finally, gets his way. This has been the standard flow in the majority of his movies. A more recent addition is the way they talk to/about women. In spite of all these blemishes, there are moments of brilliance in the movie, depending on your perspective that is. The scene where Pawan Kalyan confronts Prakash Raj on his knowledge about Telugu Thalli and the scene where he explains to Tamannah that every man is a poet in his own right are pointers to a brilliant dialogue writer hidden in the reckless director that we have come to k...
